About GECE
Geno Epilepsy Center for Empowerment is a community-based organization in Migori, Homa Bay and beyond — ending stigma, improving access to care, and walking with families living with epilepsy.
Our story
GECE was founded by Vallent and a team of caregivers and health workers who saw families in Migori struggle with stigma and lack of information. Starting with small support groups and school outreach, we now reach 1,800+ families across three counties with education, support groups, workshops and advocacy.
Our approach
We are 100% community-led. Our programs focus on awareness and outreach, patient support groups, training for teachers and clinicians, and advocacy for access to antiseizure medication and dignity for every person living with epilepsy.
